Youth Group
Our churches boast a very active youth group which is open to all youth, middle school though High School. It's a wonderful way for area youth to be active in Christian oriented and community service focused activities.
The purpose of the Juda Zion/Oakley Union United Methodist Youth Group is primarily to encourage youth of the church to serve others through a variety of activities. Helping others who are less fortunate than us is a lifelong activity, and many activities of the group are planned with this in mind. The youth group is open to students from 8th grade to seniors in High School. During the year we do a number of activities. The activities may include a Halloween trip to a corn maze and haunted house, door to door food drive in November, working the Angel Tree at the Janesville Mall for the Salvation Army, Special Olympics Polar Plunge and the Easter Sonrise Breakfast. Occasionally new activities are tried during the year.
The cost for most of the events is very minimal. We raise our money by having members donate their empty aluminum cans and empty inkjet cartridges that we get cash for. We also sell wall calendars in November and we get donations when we sponsor the Easter Sonrise Breakfast. Members of the church also donate money to our group occasionally.
The Youth Group is open to any and all area youth, regardless of membership. For more information on how to get involved, please contact the church office at 608-934-5398 or email at joumc@wekz.net.

Youth Group Happenings
The start of another youth group year is now upon us. I think it is safe to say this is going to be one of the smallest groups I have worked with over the years, but that should not stop us from doing a variety of activities like we have done in the past. That being said, I am working on our activity for the month of October, our annual Haunted House Trip. I have received word there is a new one that is going to be real close to us this year. The Scream A Torium Haunted House will be located at the old Brodhead Middle School in Brodhead and will contain over 20,000 square feet of haunted fun! As I get the plans together I will update the group on the Facebook page. Stay tuned for details!
Reminder
As a reminder, empty aluminum cans may be dropped off at my house at W2926 Main Street and empty inkjet cartridges along with used cell phones I-pods and now useable digital camera can be dropped in the collection boxes located at both churches. We can also raise funds by recycling old toner cartridges from copy machines. Please contact me before you leave them in the collection boxes so I can verify that your cartridge qualifies for recycling. As always, thanks for your continued support of our youth!!
To all the youth planning to participate in the various activities, please remember to get in touch with Dennis Pfingsten to let him know any events in which you're planning to participate. The more the merrier!
